RINCES have persecuted me,
Although no cause they saw:
But still of thy most holy word
My heart doth stand in awe.
I at thy word rejoice, as one
Of spoil that finds great store.
Thy law I love; but lying all
I hate and do abhor.
Sev’n times a day it is my care
To give due praise to thee;
Because of all thy judgments, Lord,
Which righteous ever be.
Great peace have they who love thy law;
Offence they shall have none.
I hoped for thy salvation, Lord,
And thy commands have done.
My soul thy testimonies pure
Have observed carefully;
On them my heart is set, and them
I love exceedingly.
Thy testimonies and thy laws
I kept with special care;
For all my works and ways each one
Before thee open are.

HERE are those who would teach us that there are certain ‘evidences’ or ‘graces’ that must follow a believer. While these ‘fruit inspectors’ would burden your soul with requirements; what will you do? Will you look to your graces or evidences for comfort and assurance in your hope or will you hope only in the Lord Jesus Christ with no eye to any perceived graces in your heart? I have determined by God’s sustaining grace to never list, in my mind or to others, any graces that I may think I have, but to hope in Christ alone for all my righteousness, for HE ALONE is all my righteousness, and as the publican, I shall never possess any of my own, other than that imputed by God at His death once for all. “When darkness veils His lovely face; I rest in HIS unchanging grace”- Christ the solid ROCK.

GOOD NEWS FOR GUILTY SINNERS
“This is a faithful saying worthy of ALL acceptation that Jesus Christ came into the world to save SINNERS, of whom I am chief.” I Timothy 1:15

T is very difficult to find any today who know themselves to be sinners before God, worthy of condemnation. Many would say they have faults, but where are those who justify God in condemning them? It is just as difficult to find any who, by His unmerited grace have been taught of God, through the Gospel, by the Spirit, the GOOD NEWS of the pardoning blood and imputed righteousness of the Lord Jesus, by whom He put their sin away, once for all, and has justified (acquitted) them of all guilt forever. Hebrews 10: 14 “For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.” If the Lord ever teaches you, and reveals Christ in you, He will put a cry in your heart like that of the publican, “God be merciful to me THE SINNER.” He’ll stop you from going about to establish your own righteousness, and cause you to submit to His righteousness, that the Lord Jesus worked out in the place of sinners! Has He taught you the GOOD NEWS of His Gospel? It’s not what you must do to have forgiveness, but what God has done by the obedience unto death of His Son. Seek HIM! KEN WIMER
ALL MY HOPE AND GLORY

am reminded of the precious promise that God will save the very worst sinner for Christ’s sake alone and that nothing is required of that sinner for it is God who will provide everything he needs including faith to believe it, (Lord I believe, help thou mine unbelief). I know the role of man’s responsibility in salvation is to believe, but we are commanded to come and buy what we need without price. Some men talk as if faith is something we are born with and we either use it or lose it. We lost everything in the fall, even the ability to believe in a promise that cannot fail, issued by a God who cannot lie. This truly is what it means to be a sinner. When I see the depths of my sinfulness I tremble, but when I examine the promise given and the infinite perfection of the maker of that promise, I can breathe a sigh of relief because I know that everything required for that promise to come to its fruition was taken care of 2000 years ago by God’s appointed Substitute. This is all my hope of glory. TIM HALL, Albany, GA

OME will talk wonderfully about the doctrines of grace, but have never known what it is to water the Throne of grace with their tears, that God the Holy Ghost would cause His doctrines to drop as the rain, and His still small voice to distil in their souls as the dew. Poor things! They know nothing about these things by soul experience, for they are hid from these wise and prudent professors, and only revealed unto babes; and the dear Savior thanked His Father that this was the case: “I thank Thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that Thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes; even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Thy sight.” And why, O my soul, art thou not amongst them? Is it because thou hast merited His favor more than they? O no; it is because it pleased the God and Father of all mercies and all comfort that it should be so. Blessings and honors be unto Thee, O holy God the Father, that ever Thy love and choice was fixed upon such a brat of hell as I. Honors, blessings, majesty, praises, and glories for ever crown Thy head, O Holy God the Son, equal with the Father, and One with Him, that ever Thou didst condescend to take my nature into union with Thy Divine Person, didst obey and righteously fulfill all the demands of the holy law, and didst satisfy Divine Justice for all my cursed sins; didst conquer death, and him that hath the power of death, even the devil; and hath ascended up on high, and taken possession of the inheritance, and ever liveth to make intercession for my poor soul. And O Thou Holy God, Thou blessed Spirit, One with the Father and the Son, blessings, honors, majesty and glories for ever be unto Thee, that ever Thou didst pick up my poor soul out of the ruins of the Fall; didst kill me to all works of righteousness which I could do; didst reveal justifying righteousness and pardoning blood to my heart, and didst bear Thy solemn witness to my spirit that I am an heir of God, and joint heir with Christ.
JOHN WARBURTON, 1776-1851
