CALL TO WORSHIP
(Tune: #52-‘Majestic Sweetness Sits Enthroned’)
Lord, we adore Thy boundless grace,
The heights and depths unknown,
Of pardon, life, and joy, and peace,
In Thy Beloved Son, In Thy Beloved Son
O wondrous gifts of love divine,
Dear Source of every good;
Jesus, in Thee what glories shine!
How rich Thy flowing blood! How rich Thy flowing blood!
Come, all ye pining, hungry poor,
The Savior’s bounty taste;
Behold a never-failing store
For every willing guest. For every willing guest.
Here shall your numerous wants receive
A free, a full supply;
He has unmeasured bliss to give,
And joys that never die. And joys that never die.
CHRIST THE DOOR
“I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture,” John 10:8

he door by which the sheep freely enter in and out (a type of life and liberty) and find pasture (rest and refreshment of soul) is not only the Person of Christ, but His sacrificial death for sinners. In verse 2 it speaks of Christ, THE SHEPHERD, entering the door, before describing Him as THE DOOR. Christ THE DOOR (the Way), entered the door of death, to satisfy law and justice on behalf of His sheep, that He might be THE DOOR by which they enter in having had the way opened for them by His effectual death, Hebrews 10:20. Their election as sheep, their spiritual life, and the rest that comes is based upon sins forgiven and righteousness imputed at the cross, and the RESULT of Christ being the Shepherd who entered the door of death for them, who is now the door of life for them. Any other way is a false way, and therefore, no way at all, John 10:1. KEN WIMER
GOD’S SOVEREIGN HAND IN EVERYTHING
|
T |
he believer must not look upon anything as ordinary, for God is in everything. True, he may have to pass through the same circumstances—to meet the same trials—to encounter the same reverses as other men; but he must not meet them in the same way, nor interpret them on the same principle; nor do they convey the same report to his ear. He should hear the voice of God, and heed His message, in the most trifling as well as in the most momentous occurrence of the day. The disobedience of a child, or the loss of an estate, or the death of a friend, should all be regarded as divine messengers to his soul.
So also, when we look around in the world, we should see God is in everything. The overturning of thrones, the crashing of empires, the famine, the pestilence, and every event that occurs among nations, exhibit traces of the hand of God, and utter a voice for the ear of man. The devil will seek to rob the Christian of the real sweetness of this thought; he will tempt him to think that, at least, the commonplace circumstances of every-day life exhibit nothing extraordinary, but only such as happen to other men. But we must not yield to him in this. We must start on our course every morning, with this truth vividly impressed on our mind—God is in everything! The sun that rolls along the heavens in splendid brilliancy, and the worm that crawls along the path, have both alike been prepared of God, and, moreover, could both alike cooperate in the development of His unsearchable designs.
I would observe, in conclusion, that the only one, who walked in the abiding remembrance of the above precious and important truth, was our blessed Master. He saw the Father's hand and heard the Father's voice in everything. This appears preeminently in the season of His deepest humility. He came forth from the garden of Gethsemane with those memorable words, "The cup which my Father has given me, shall I not drink it?" (John 18:11); thus recognizing in the fullest manner, that God is in everything.

ALL OF SALVATION IS IN AND BY CHRIST JESUS
“But of HIM are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: That, according as it is written, ‘He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.’
1 CORINTHIANS 1:30,31
NOT EARTHLY GOLD, OR PEARLS, OR DIAMONDS

y precious Lord hung on the dreadful cross, where He was made a curse for sinful me--where He had my hell--that I in Him might have eternal heaven! The precious drops which flowed were the price of my redemption--what a price! Not earthly gold, or pearls, or diamonds--but purest, richest blood; the blood of Jehovah's Fellow! (Zechariah 13:7). Here was heaven's gold--paid to ransom sinful worms! Not for angels were heaven's treasures thus poured out--but for worms! Oh! Wonder of wonders! My soul marvels at such matchless love--and at the effects of it! Letters of RUTH BRYAN
CRUMBS OF MERCY

ever was a poor sinner more unworthy of favor from God or His people than myself. I deserve not a name and a place among the children, but am as vile as a dog, and would be glad for crumbs of mercy that fall from the Master's table. But such is the free grace of God towards me, through the slain Lamb, that He deals with me as a child, a dear child, and feasts me as a prince with Him according to the royalty, the dignity of His own infinite state. If salvation in all its parts were not all of grace, it would not suit such a wretched, miserable sinner as I am. But oh, blessed be God, there is salvation enough for me in Christ to be had of the freest grace—of grace in which there is no scantiness, but an immense and eternal fullness to fill my needy soul, through all time and to eternity! And glad am I, under all my sins, miseries and needs, to live under the reign of grace—of this grace which reigns through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ my Lord!
