CALL TO WORSHIP

(Tune: #489- ‘Glory To His Name’)

U

nder the curse of the law I stood,

Having within not a trace of good,

Facing the wrath of a Holy God,

Void of righteousness.

Chorus

God is faithful, He will save,

He so loved the world He gave

His only Son who redemption paid

There at Calvary.

At Calvary where the Savior died,

God’s law and justice was satisfied,

Now in my heart they are magnified

Since I have believed.

Chorus

God is faithful to receive

All by faith who do believe

His righteousness has alone relieved

All our guilt and shame

Righteousness stands as our hope secure,

Trusting His righteousness I endure,

Knowing the victr’y is mine for sure

He declares it so.

Chorus

God is faithful to forgive,

Look by faith to Him and live,

Eternal life He does surely give

Those He sanctified.

CHRIST DID NOT DIE IN VAIN

“And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day,” John 6:39.

A

lthough many in hearing the message of the cross pass by in unbelief, yet we have this confidence, that the Lord will have every sinner for whom He shed His blood.  The fact is that He did not die for every single sinner.  He said, “Of all which He (the Father) hath given me I should lose nothing.” There is a number, which no man can number, who shall, by His Almighty grace, be brought to look to Him as the blessed Redeemer and cling to Him as the hope of their souls, because He purchased them, putting away their sin and justifying them.

Isaiah declared, “He shall see of the travail of His soul and be satisfied” (Isaiah. 53:11). He will, in the day of His power, make them willing to believe the Lord Jesus in truth as ALL their salvation, Psalm 110:3.  They may now be hardened in sin, but He will break their hearts, bend their knees, and make them run to Christ according to HIS good pleasure!  Salvation is of our Lord in the planning, procuring, and performing of it- Philippians 1:6.                                                  KEN WIMER

A FAITHFUL SAYING

“This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to SAVE (REDEEM AND JUSTIFY) sinners; OF WHOM I AM CHIEF.”(I Tim.1:15)

B

efore His conversion, Satan had Saul right where he wants every sinner: (blind to his need of a righteousness (holiness) he can never produce by his own efforts at keeping the law of God); a righteousness required by God to bring the sinner into a state of perfect justification.   It was in this depraved, lost, hopeless condition that God’s grace descended to this elect sinner, Saul of Tarsus, and revealed to Saul’s mind and understanding what his Redeemer, the Lord Jesus Christ had actually accomplished on his behalf by His obedience unto death at Calvary. Paul knew by experience what he was talking about when he wrote that Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners.   The good news of Saul’s conversion is that if God saved the “chief" literally, first in rank of sinners”, no matter how sinful you might consider yourself, God’s grace in Christ’s death was sufficient to   satisfy God’s law and justice on your behalf.  Are you a sinner? Do you trust Christ’s righteousness ALONE for all your salvation?  If so, it is evidence that CHRIST ALONE HAS SAVED YOU- THE SINNER.

Read Jn.5:23, 24.

CHRIST'S SACRIFICE-A PURE SACRIFICE

U

nder the law, their offerings must be without blemish. Therefore the Lord reproves the people for that they brought that which was torn and the lame and the sick, saying, "Ye brought an offering, should I accept this of your hands saith the Lord?" Malachi 1:8.  It is as much as if He had said, "I the Lord delight not in, but abhor lame, blind, imperfect offerings. I must have one without blemish.”

But now seeing that all these unblemished lambs, etc., under the law could not take away sin, either a sacrifice without spot and blemish must be found, that is sufficient to take away sin, or else sin must remain.  Therefore, the Lord Christ stepped in and it is said, “Wherefore when He cometh into the world, He saith, Sacrifice and offerings thou wouldest not. Then said I, Lo I come to do Thy will O God. Christ is the Lamb of God that taketh away the sins of the world. Who offered up Himself to God without spot, for He is that true Lamb without blemish and without spot.  Herein our Jesus was a Priest transcending the Priests under the law, which had infirmity and the sacrifices under the law that was imperfect. For the Lord Jesus was pure and spotless, yea, perfectly pure-in Whose mouth was found no guile, Who knew no sin (Lev. 1:3, 10; Mal. 1:7-10; John 1:29, 36; Heb. 9:14; 1 Pet. 1:19; Heb. 7;28; 11:19; 1 Pet. 2;22; 2 Cor. 5:21).

There was a great necessity He should be such an offering without spot, because God was and is a God of pure Eyes that cannot behold iniquity, that is to say, to tolerate it, suffer it to go unpunished. Now had Christ been a sinner, He could not have taken away sin.
