CALL TO WORSHIP
Tune: #393-‘Take My Life and Let it Be’
Christ exalted is our song,
Sung by all the blood-bought throng;
To his throne our shouts shall rise,
God with us by sacred tie. (Repeat)
Shout, believer, to thy God!
He has once the wine-press trod;
Peace procured by blood Divine;
Cancelled all thy sins and mine. (Repeat)
Here thy bleeding wounds are healed;
Sin condemned and pardon sealed;
Grace her empire still maintains;
Christ without a rival reigns. (Repeat)
In thy Surety thou art free;
His dear hands were pierced for thee;
With His spotless garment on,
Holy as the Holy One! (Repeat)
LOOKING TO CHRIST
“Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.” (Proverbs 4:25) Brethren, let us keep our eyes towards the glory of God in Christ in all things. Let us keep our focus upon Him whom to know is life eternal and run the race that is set before us “looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith” (Heb. 12:2). Let us always look to the Word of God for guidance along the path we walk as we are motivated by His grace and love for us in Christ. Let us not look to the right or to the left as if to let circumstances occupy our minds. Let us not look behind us and dwell on the past (past sins, past problems) to burden us. Let us keep our eyes on Christ (His glorious Person, His blood and righteousness) who has saved us from our sins. Let us keep our eyes right on and straight before us looking for His blessed and glorious return to glorify us. The command of the Gospel of God is, “Look unto ME, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.” (Isa. 45:22) BILL PARKER
THE SCRIPTURAL DEFINITION OF JUSTIFICATION
|
I |
n the Scripture, the term justification means “to declare or pronounce one to be righteous or holy before God.” (Strong’s Concordance) We see this in Acts 13:38.39, where the Apostle Paul declared the Gospel to the Jews-“Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man (Christ the Lord) is preached (declared) unto you the forgiveness of sins.” In other words, Paul told them that the only way of salvation was through the WORK OF CHRIST ALONE. Notice Vs.39-“And by Him (by His power) all that believe (literally, are persuaded) are (not will be, but are already) justified (declared legally righteous according to God’s Law and Justice) from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses. From the last part of this verse we see that justification cannot be obtained by personal obedience to the law. Therefore the ground or cause for justification (being declared legally righteous and holy before God) cannot be personal obedience, sincerity of religion (the Jews had a “zeal for God”), or even faith. The ONLY ground, hope, or cause of JUSTIFICATION is Christ’s finished work of redemption at Calvary-“Being justified (declared legally righteous) freely (as a gift) by His grace (unmerited favor) THROUGH THE REDEMPTION THAT IS IN CHRIST JESUS.”(Rom.3:24) The ground of justification is the work of redemption performed solely by Christ alone though His substitutionary death at Calvary. This work of redemption JUSTIFIED all the elect, ONCE FOR ALL, at Calvary. To God be all the praise, glory and honor for His glorious grace. RICHARD WARMACK
GOD’S JUSTICE SATISFIED IN THE DEATH OF CHRIST
|
M |
any see the cross of Jesus Christ (His sacrificial death) as a tragedy that shouldn’t have happened, if only the Jewish nation had believed on Him. Such a view is contrary to the Bible teaching as to why the Lord Jesus came into the world and suffered and died. The scripture is clear that it was God Himself who crucified His Son Acts 2:23. Why did He do it? The answer is that God had from all eternity chosen a great number of sinners that He purposed to save, Ephesians 1:4. However, that He might be just in saving them, He purposed that His Eternal Son should come as a man, be born under the same law that condemned sinners, and suffer and die in their place, Gal. 4:4. God set forth His Son to be a propitiation [a satisfaction through death], that He might justly forgive the sin of every one of His elect from Adam to the end of the world, and justify them by Christ’s death. The Lord Jesus so completely satisfied God’s justice by His death that God now declares just every one for whom Christ died. This is the good news of the Gospel!
