CALL TO WORSHIP
(Tune: ‘Doxology’)

hanks be to my Head, the great King of kings,
My life from the dead, the death of my sins;
Who took all my woes, and was made sin for me;
Who died, and who rose, and from sin set me free.
His Spirit He sent, to soften my heart;
The old veil to rend and life to impart;
To bring me from darkness to light in the Lord,
And kill me to Moses, to sin, and the world.
Thus, I, through the law, dead to the law am,
Yet married am I to Jesus the Lamb!
This union is sealed, and all heaven’s agreed;
From sin and from Moses I henceforth am freed.
My soul, then, rejoice; let Christ be thy song;
With heart and with voice, with lip and with tongue,
Before men or angels, sing, ‘Worthy’s the Lamb
Of unceasing praises, forever, AMEN!
THE PROPOGATION OF THE GOSPEL

he New Testament propagation of the gospel is the spreading of the good news of the accomplishments of the Lord Jesus Christ wherever God’s people are “scattered” by persecution, mobility of jobs, and various migrations or emigrations. The simple walk and conversation of God’s people, and their quiet invitations to friends and family to worship services are sufficient. They do not impose their religion on anyone, because they know how disgusting it is for a rabid free-willer to attempt to cram it down their throats. They know full well that “salvation is of the Lord,” Jonah 3:9, and He has done His work and the Holy Spirit will invariably do His. By experience, they understand that anyone would really rather believe that the influence of the Gospel upon the poor soul was of God, rather than a fellow creature. Most of all, they understand that the Gospel is good news to quickened sinners about what God has done for such, rather than what He will do if they “let Him.” They believe, as in their own case, that the special application of the salvation worked out by Christ is the special office of the Holy Spirit. That faith is precious to them. STANLEY PHILLIPS-Quitman, MS
A NEW CREATION IN CHRIST
|
I |
n our death with Christ on the cross, God separated us from the first Adam, recreating the church (positionally) in the Last Adam. Even as Eve was formed from Adam’s ribs and made alive in him, so the elect who were positionally dead in
Adam’s condemnation under the law, were created anew in Christ’s suffering and death accomplished for them. God, freed them from the old man, Adam, by Christ’s death. When Christ was raised again from the grave and ascended on high, it was because all of the elect were at one time justified by His death. This is the new creation spoken of in 2 Cor. 5:17. "If any man be in Christ, he is a new creation."
Positionally identified with Christ in His death, burial, resurrection and ascension, the elect are all now seated, at the right hand of the Father. "God, who is rich in mercy, for His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath made us alive together with Christ (by grace ye are saved), and hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus" (Eph. 2:4-6). Although positionally freed from the penalty of sin by the death of Christ, experientially, now, we wait by the Spirit for the day when we shall be entirely freed from the presence of sin in our glorified state, Romans 8:22, 23.
We make no pretense of any sinless nature in us. However, the Spirit of God in the child of God is sinless, and the light of the Spirit causes the child of God to see that IN the sinner dwells no good thing, but that ALL his righteousness is in THE NEW MAN (CHRIST), and His finished work at Calvary. While we wait our final glorification, already purchased at the cross, we rest in Christ and God’s imputed righteousness alone, which by His grace is revealed in the Gospel, from faith to faith- Romans 1:16, 17.

REDEEMED AND CALLED
“And they shall call them, The holy people, The redeemed of the LORD: and thou shalt be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken.”
Isaiah 62:12
CHRIST AS OUR HOPE
“…Christ in you the hope of glory,” Colossians 1:27

hat is a true Christian hope?
1. A firm expectation of all promised good things as long as they give God His glory. Most especially it is the hope of salvation and happiness in heaven where we shall be completely conformed to Christ the Son of the Living God.
2. This hope is founded on the grace, blood, righteousness and intercession of Christ alone, and the earnest of the Holy Spirit, and unchangeable truth, and Almighty power of God, which always agree with the Word.
3. This hope is different than worldly hope. Its object (Christ) is Excellent, True, Faithful, Steadfast and Sure. The God who cannot lie will never deceive or disappoint our hopes. He does all things to prove Himself as a living hope to each of His own. Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 1:12- ‘I know WHOM I have believed.’
4. This hope which is in the living Lord has a cleansing effect- 1 John 3:3. ED HALE

ou are a manslayer! Flee to the Refuge. Flee to Christ, trusting His finished work today and everyday. Will you try to do the Lord’s will as you read of the failures of men in the scriptures, or will you continually flee to the City of Refuge, and continue as the publican to smite your breast hoping only in a work accomplished on your behalf and completely outside yourself, hoping only in the finished work of the One who is altogether lovely?
