Edward R Hale

Edward R Hale was born 2/11/1917 and died in April 1988.  He lived in New Orleans for a while and lived in Terrebonne Parish where he pastored a small flock until his death.  The LORD gave him a gift of music.  Before the LORD began His work in him, he used his talent as any worldling would.

"But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love where with he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them".

Ephesians 2:4-10

After the LORD revealed Christ in him, his sole desire was to point sinners to Christ, even in song, knowing that some sinners would never enter a church building.  The LORD would give him the tune first, then the words. One of the most amazing tunes was given to him by the LORD to sing so very closely to the word, "When a Prodigal Got Home".  Loved by many of the LORD's sheep, his joy was looking for the LORD Jesus in every part of the WORD.  Because the LORD purposed that he have but an 8th grade education, Brother Hale was a token of the God's grace--he confounded wisdom of the religious, and declared CHRIST alone as His eternal hope.

Some examples of his music are available on the right for your listening pleasure and to share and download. Also available for you to print and share are his musical score sheets.
